Pikachu Beginnings Plush | Pokémon Center Japan

PK10126

Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokémon from the Kanto region and one of the defining characters of the entire franchise. Its early game-era artwork gave it a noticeably rounder body and softer proportions than many later interpretations. Pikachu stores electricity in its cheek pouches and releases it when threatened or excited, but its appeal also comes from its expressive, companion-like personality. The Beginnings design is especially interesting for long-time fans because it turns that older visual identity into a modern plush, creating a direct link between today's Pokémon Center merchandise and the series' earliest Japanese game artwork.

The Pikachu Beginnings design looks back to Pikachu's rounded appearance in the original Pokémon Red and Green era. For Pokémon's long-running Japanese fan community, revisiting early game artwork connects modern Pokémon Center merchandise with the visual style that introduced the series in the 1990s.
